Electrolyzed reduced water (ERW) has a lot of medical research behind it, including research for cancer and diabetes. Please see the list of studies below. ERW has 10x more antioxidants than green tea, and works like a super anti-oxidant. It can destroy free radicals in the body, which may, in turn, can help certain individuals with free free radical damage. Please note I am not saying this water is a cure for anything. I am simply pasting the titles of some published articles about Electrolyzed Reduced Water, which I think the general public might like to see, because despite it's popular use in Japan (one in 4 households has a machine that makes ERW), most Americans have never heard of it. The medical research studies all call it reduced water, ionized water, or mineral alkaline water (but please know that all alkaline or ionized water is NOT the same... I'm working on a page that will show you why).
Most of the research is from Japan, where this water is used in almost all hospitals (they are #1 in Longevity... America is #36) . But, more and more doctors in the US are starting to learn about this technology and get machines for themselves, even though it isn't recognized by the FDA yet. Some US medical schools are now conducting research too.

Different machines produce water that can drastically range in quality. Most water machines that produce alkaline water make water that comes out strong, but the antioxidants are almost completely gone after 3 hours. If you choose to purchase a machine that makes Electrolyzed Reduced Water, be sure that you get one that is certified medical equipment (meaning, it uses ONLY high quality materials which will give the water a long lasting charge). If you do, the water is likely to maintain 90% of it's ORP for 3 hours. All machines are not made the same, despite what some companies would like consumers to believe.

Accumulating evidence has shown that reduced waters are health beneficial and they suppress oxidative stress-related diseases such as diabetes, cancer, arteriosclerosis, neurodegenerative diseases, and the side effects of hemodialysis. The mechanisms of action of reduced water for scavenging ROS are considered to be complicated. ERW contains hydrogen molecules and mineral nanoparticles. Hydrogen molecules and active hydrogen may be new redox regulation factors that can induce the gene expression of antioxidative enzymes. Hydrogen molecules may be converted to active hydrogen by catalyst action of metal nanoparticles to exhibit more potent reducibility. Mineral nanoparticles themselves are new types of multi-functional antioxidants. Mineral hydride nanoparticles, which are H-donors as well as organic antioxidants like ascorbic acid, are also candidates of active agents in reduced waters. NRW may have one or some of the active agents described above. Further investigation on activation methods of water by electricity, magnetic fields or light are likely to contribute to the development of energy-rich waters, which will be beneficial for human health. Reduced water may suppress harmful effects of environmental pollution on the embryo in pregnant women by purifying amniotic fluid and blood.

For those suffering from hypochlorhydria or achlorhydria ( low in gastric juice ) the presence of antioxidantwater will stimulate the stomach cells to secrete more gastric juice. This in turn enhances digestion and absorption of minerals.However, on the other hand, those with hyperchlorhydria ( high in gastric juice ), the antioxidant waterneutralizes the excessive gastric juice. In addition, some of the studies are on the strong acidic water (
acidic oxidative potential water) which is produced by the same machine. This water is used as a sterilizing agent in Japanese hospitals and possesses a strong bactericidal effect that is strong enough to kill MRSA.
